I spent two days at The Times (a Sunday Times daily) working on Business reporting with Zweli Mokgata. I was actually shadowing Zweli and in that process, was summoned to do the stories I have recently published. I got a by line for a story on “A construction company that bought into a Diesel Power company” as well as “The amendments made to the Basic Conditions Employment Act on the 1st March”. Business reporting is however no JOKE…one has to be familiar with what is happening in the Business world to write about these stories and ask experts. Remember this: JOURNALISTS ARE NOT EXPERTS, that is why they interview expects to find out facts! My biggest achievement yet, without any doubt, has to be the story on Student exclusions in this weeks’ Financial Mail Campus. It was actually the cover story!! Time was spent on this one to make it good and factual without any harm intended to anyone! The pressure is now on to perform even better and sustain the achievement instead of just being a one hit wonder with stories galore for one week and not the other.

Stories Galore…
I have always asked myself how it would feel to have an article published as a journalist. Well, my question finally got answered this week as I had an experience of a life-time in a short space of time as a journalist (I have been a professional one for a month and 8 days).
