University of Free State disgrace!

In 2003, I was in Matric at Voortrekker Hoerskool when I was exposed to racial discrimination. I had no political background or anything like that and really did not make much of the incident. What happened was that I was beaten up my 10 white guys who were in Grade 12 with me that year. They were not in the same class as me because they were studying Afrikaans 1st Language…They were scared to hit me on the face because that would mean there is evidence of their sinful deed.

The recent incident at University of Free State has reminded me of those days. I always call for the transformation of our country with such acts and I agree with the Sowetan that SUCH ACTS ARE OUT OF PLACE IN SOUTH AFRICA. But let me comment on why I think the Free State is far from a being a diversified province in this country (because I am from there and was a victim of racial disgrace). If you ever visit that down and you are from Jozi or even Durban, you will be shocked at the level of the lack of diversity amongst blacks and whites. Their public schools tell the whole story and this goes for the stores where whites dominate. They would prefer to speak in Afrikaans, ignoring the fact that English is a universal language!!! Racism in the Free State has always been there (as well as in the small towns around Mzantsi where Afrikaners reside) it just more exposed because of the recent sinful deeds at UOFS.
